Ugh. It is never fun to be sick, but at least I have found out what was contributing to Payt's constant whining: a nasty sinus infection that worked its way into his lungs! After a trip to the ER for Derek we learned that my wheezing baby had gunk in his lungs (not pneumonia yet) which made me wonder if Payton did too. A trip to the doctor confirmed that Payton sure does! Both boys are now on antibiotics...Brandon and I are probably going to need them too because now that the boys are slowly getting better we are quickly getting worse. We've quite blessed, though, because my step mom, Rose, dropped all that she was doing and used frequent flier miles to come see us. She should arrive in just a few minutes and will be here until Sunday. I can't wait to nap! Derek struggles more at night so we have not been getting much sleep. I'm so grateful she's coming.
Okay, so that was really the preface to this post. Why I really wanted to post was to talk about my sweet DerBear's big, happy spirit. I have been continuously amazed these past few days that as he has struggled to breathe at times, or has been coughing up a lung, etc., he is still the smiley-ist baby that ever was! This video was taken today when he's been feeling much better, but even Sunday when he was at his worse in the ER he would cry and moan and cough, but as soon as he saw me or I started talking to him he'd give me a huge grin. What a great example! I think we could all be a little more like Derek (but maybe I'm bias ;). I love the innocent love that little children possess, and I most definitely love my DerBear.
a corny video of Derek and me. Forgive the poor quality; I only had my cell phone.
And I'm not shameless, so here's my plug for the best doctor around: Dr. Vance Lassey. We LOVE him and the Holton hospital. Yes, I drove all the way (30 minutes) out there to take Derek to the ER when we have two ERs 10 minutes away, and I'm so grateful I did. I delivered Derek out there, and, really, Holton hospital is probably #2 on my list of things I will miss the most when we leave Kansas. It's a shame we'll be moving before it's time for baby #3 because I LOVED my experience in Holton. We struggled a lot to find someone here in town to take our family to, so I feel so blessed when Dr. Lassey (and all the other doctors I've met; they're fabulous) came along! So, you want a doctor? Go to Holton.
