14 Months

Well, Derek turned 14 months over a week ago. I didn't realize it until just now. Looking back at the calendar I'm pretty sure I was in the ER with Derek the moment he turned 14 months. Derek's been pretty sick the past few weeks, with this last week being the worse. He battled a 105.7ish fever for days. On medicine we could keep it around 102/103. Thankfully, Thursday morning his fever broke, and he seems to be returning to normal.

Normal nowadays, though, consists of the following words:  ornery, turd, stinky, and crank-butt. I thought it was so fitting that Derek woke up this morning with horns. I've known that he's had horns for months now, but the rest of the world is finally able to see them, too :).

I love my DerBear. He is my buddy, and I think that Payton is to the point that he would be absolutely lost without him. This month Derek's started throwing major tantrums. He's not as passive as he once was! He also got his FIRST tooth! About time, right? :). I gave him a whole cracker yesterday and he nibbled it tiny bit-by-bit with his little tooth. Derek is even more in love with Elvis (his bird) and his pacifier. Since we were in CA and then he was sick I haven't been strict at all about his paci...so...he's obsessed. Derek loves balls and trucks. He says vrooom, dada, mama, and more. He signs milk, more, and please. We're trying to teach him the sign for thank you. Derek also started blowing kisses. Derek wears size 18 month clothes, and he lost a few pounds this month when he was sick.

Yesterday I watched Derek walk up to Payton who was playing with their train track. Derek skillfully kicked Payts train off the track, smiled, and waddled away. Payt freaked out. Derek's actions were so intentional; it was hilarious.
